Nature is such a beautiful thing. That’s why when we were assigned this project to go around and capture nature, I was excited. I think autumn is the most aesthetically pleasing season. The sun still shines down bright on the changing leaves and the refreshing breeze. All the beautiful hues of red, orange, and yellow just soften the entire environment and make for a wonderful scene.
Most of these pictures were captured in New York City. I found the dichotomy between city scape and nature to be much more interesting and alluring than that of Washington, D.C. It was as if the concrete and the natural brush were blooming together, growing upwardly as a team. In D.C, I feel like the nature gets lost or just feels buried in the museums and monuments.
The animals are much more interactive in New York City. In D.C, the creatures outside are aggressive and sneaky. These pigeons were coexisting with me finely, just watching and minding their own business as I passed. Once when I was standing outside of a grocery store in D.C, a group of pigeons swarmed me and started circling around me like they were going to beat me up and steal my food!
I came across this site while walking to the thrift store. It spoke to me. I felt that it was sending a message, something about the confinement and destruction of nature due to the greed of the human race. Either way, I thought it was a nice shot that included some city and some nature.
This is the view from inside a New York City subway station. I found the stations to be cold, unforgiving, and dirty. People rushed around, stepping over debris on the ground and ignoring the people shouting at them about Jesus. As I was riding up the elevator, I caught a glimpse of some beautiful autumn trees. The view through the glass was almost breathtaking. I had to capture it with my cellphone, and it was perfect for this project.
What a beautiful site on the train. Just as we were taking off, I was greeted by this beautiful conglomeration of blue sky, puffy clouds, and vibrant trees. Contrasted against the stiff metal of the grinding train, I thought this made for a great nature shot. New York City offered some sticking views of city and nature coexisting.
