My name is Alexsis Simmons. I am a senior Media, Journalism, and Film Communications major, Playwriting minor, from Atlanta, Georgia. My biggest passions are scriptwriting and storytelling. I have always been a huge fan of language and the written word since I learned to read at 4 years old.
My time in the film program at Howard University has opened me up to many new connections and fields of knowledge. My favorite course I have taken as a student in this program has been Scriptwriting. I got to craft my very own screen play for the first time in this class. This opportunity helped my creativity flourish and my love of storytelling swelled tremendously.
The most important thing to do in this world is to help. I have a passion for using words to speak for the voiceless and highlight the invisible.
